Starry Gazey Pie in progress

It's coming along! This is taking a little longer than expected as I'm certainly learning along the way but so far it's what I pictured. Any comments appreciated, as this is my first illustration using this method (like a drawing collage in photoshop).

Starry Gazey Pie

Some build-up work for Illustration Friday 'Star Gazing'. This was a few weeks ago but it sadly got moved to a lower priority whilst the 'big move' was in it's final stages. This week it SHALL be completed! I like it so far so I'm determined to get it done.

The Octopus

This drawing was made about a year ago, before my tutors had taught me how to 'draw properly', so it's a bit naive, but I still like it. I had a brilliant time drawing it as the octopus was really active, wriggling around all over the place - hence the broken lines and scribbles.

The Octopus 2

An etching made during our uni etching induction. This was made from the original octopus drawing I made at Tynemouth aquarium, which I've been meaning to but on for....an age. It will be added above next.

Photoshop / Wacom experimenting for I.F

My first Wacom illustration! AND my first illustration friday. Thought this would be a good chance to try out the wacom properly and take some scary steps into the deeper relms of photoshop. This is why it's turned out far too computery than I would normally like. Next time..lots of lovely ink, paint and pencil. THEN photoshop...Scrummy

East Neuk Open Studios

Hilke MacIntyre

Lovely Pigeon
What a weekend! We had a 8 hour round journey up to Fife to go to East Neuk Open Studios, but it was worth it! Above are my favourite places, the photos don't do them justice. I also had no idea Fife was so flippin' lovely and the sun shone on the first day at least! To top it off I even got to meet Jill Calder (see below) who was really lovely.

Jillustration

OH MY GIDDY AUNT. I am rather shocked to discover that I have not yet blogged Jill Calder. She is my favourite. And has been since I was shown her website. If these send you giddy lets start a club and perhaps you should have a peek at http://www.jillcalder.com/. Enjoy!

The late shows

Sadly my camera died a death so there are no pictures to show you the loveliness of the late shows. There was glow paint and candles and illustration and print and music and ceramics and glass and wine and paint (not mixed) and lots more. Everyone seemed to have a jolly good time. It was a bit like christmas. You can find out about the next one at http://www.thelateshows.org.uk/home.html (it's much more fun than it looks). My favourite was http://www.36limestreet.co.uk/ (which was also much more fun than it looks!) It had studio on beautiful studio of things that made you feel fizzy and excited. Good times. If only there was more like this......

Brian Wildsmith is lovely

A few of us from Carlisle went along to seven stories as part of the late shows (in Newcastle) and in a plain looking side room we got a lovely shock. The work reminds me rather alot of another of my illustration idols (all bow) Jill Calder. I think it's the mark making and use of colour. Yummy in my eye tummies
